Named after the biblical demon of greed as a metaphor, the song aims to not only criticize current regimes such as the second Trump administration and Putinism, alongside their billionaire donors and oligarch supporters, but to explore humanity’s excessive greed as a whole, and how it’s infamously known to bring down empires with it; a plight that even the most famous nations of today have to grapple with.

Margarita Mantis is a female solo songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer crafting deep, narrative-packed rock and metal music. Rejecting traditional genre constraints, she ties heavy sonic landscapes with genre-bending elements (from orchestral to electronic, as well as folk), alongside expansive lyrical commentary that motivates listeners to challenge modern societal structures and better process the world around them. As she puts it: “My lyricism often revolves around life’s imperfections and how we choose to escape or accept them…I believe it’s my civil duty as an artist, as a musician, to help stand with people through their most convoluted circumstances, and set them on the right track.”
Working on this project since age 16 and now 21, Margarita Mantis is very hands-on in her work and largely self-taught, especially in audio engineering. She now has 2 albums, 2 EPs, and various singles under her belt, as well as more on the way.
